F is for freakin’ cute when it comes to Paperfingers alphabet prints.
And the cuteness doesn’t end with the alphabet, you can also get a custom name print for your little snuggle bunny.

Anybody else think this would be perfection in a nursery or little girl’s room? I know what you’re gonna say, “I want that for my dining room”

the Norm 06, Scandinavian Design Center, small $59.11
We received another great DIY project for children from our friend Amanda. She posted this DIY chalkboard on her blog Learning As We Go.
But before I show you the chalkboard, I think sharing little Evan’s Joe Dirt costume from this weekend is needed. Friends, that is a mullet wig for toddlers. Amanda distracted him from taking it off by initially giving him a popsicle which the neighbors mistakenly thought was a corn dog to go with the costume. Awesome.

Okay so back to DIY…It started as an unused homemade tv stand that was sitting in the garage, almost forgotten.

After

Amanda offers step by step instructions in the original post.
Twin beds is something that we are seeing a lot of whether it be in a shared bedroom for kids or a guest room, we previously posted about the twin invasion here. But I recently spied something that was a little different, a spin on the twin bed lineup.

What do you think about this concept? Would you rather have separate headboards?
What’s popping off at One Kings Lane…well there’s a few things of note,

Nurseryworks letterpress print

Archipelago candles & diffusers

Nurseryworks chocablock crib bedding set

Nurseryworks tufted twin headboard, various colors

Jardins en Fleur, Ming accent table, could be an unexpected accent table for a child’s room

Nurseryworks Loop de loop duvet

Jardins en Fleur, Foo dog set
Please email us if you need an invitation, we’ll send it right over. These sales end 10/15/09.
I think the plague is going around in the American magazine circle. Today I read at Abbey Goes Design Scouting that her beloved Gourmet is going bye bye and then I was over at Ruby Press and discovered that in addition to Gourmet, Conde Nast is closing Modern Bride, Elegant Bride and Cookie.

I don’t cook but I do love the covers of Gourmet and I’m slightly dissapointed about Cookie, how else will I figure how to be a stylish parent? I don’t subscribe but I have purchased it a couple of times. Right now they are mulling over the topic of “Is it ok to smoke weed at play dates?” and wouldn’t you know there’s Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise Parker). I’d head over to Cookie’s website and start harvesting all of the decor inspiration you can before they shut it down. They’ve got a load of domestic and international house tours, of the entire house not just the kiddie spaces. There’s also some good nursery design ideas to gather there too.
Some of my favorites…

An older couple recently posed that question to my mother-in-law in a local diner. The answer is, no she isn’t but most of the time DC is pretty easy-going.

Hey Nonni and Gram, DC wants a lovely antique piece like this to wear to her next social engagement, spaghetti dinner at your house perhaps?

Seriously this is lovely, really dreamy but DC would ruin this in a second. Maybe for display? These beautiful things will run you $75-$125. See other pretty little things at Belle Heir, fine vintage clothing for babies and tots.
Meet Mallory Gray, the procreation of what I would say is one of my favorite couples, Laurie and Andy Rhoney.

These two have made a beautiful human being, and while that is more profound than I really have words for…. let me move on to GUSH about the nursery that Laurie put together. I knew it would be a success. Laurie is a freelance Interior Designer here in Hickory,NC and her home is an impressive collection that speaks to her and Andy’s tailored eccentricity. They are both artists and their home is full of life and warmth. At her 6th month, Laurie was telling me about this idea she had to wallpaper the ceiling with a specific print, and from her description I totally could tell that this was it as soon as I stumbled upon this image. It was a great idea. I can’t believe the turnout. Its so stunning. Geez…. makes me wanna go get knocked up so I can hire Laurie to help me with my own Rhoney Nursery. Check it out!

I love, love, love illustration! It seems like there are a gazillion great alphabet prints out there but Paul Thurlby may be pulling ahead of the pack with his alphabet series.
Buy the series here. And if you buy two prints Paul will give you the third print free. You can also visit Paul at his blog.
Below are some of my favorites from the series.

The children’s design and decor realm intrigues me. There is such a HUGE market for mom’s and their little babies. Today I learned about Ella + Elliot. They friended us on Flickr and then hit me upside the head with all this baby radness. I don’t have children, but obviously Sarah and little DC have influenced me by making me aware of all of these options out there. Its a whole new research venue for products and trends in home decor.
I particularly liked the Big Kids page on the Ella + Elliot webpage.
