lovely pair of twin beds. They are mahogany and were upholstered in Fortuny fabric, although not recently and not by me (just to clarify). It is just the two headboards. The pair is $500.00. I saw the invoice for these beds and they were $2500.00.
Please email me at sarah@theestateofthings.com if you’d like to discuss.

Don’t they remind you of this?

or even a little of this…

The beds are amazing and I wish I had room for them or my Mom was using them as I had intended for her to. But she bought 200 year old, hand carved twin beds from Germany instead. I prefer these personally.
Upon closer inspection of the bed linens in Betsy Burnham’s daughter’s room, I find the source of the bedding to be Deborah Sharpe Linens. For review here is the bed again,

I have been searching for a new sheet set for my own bed and have been considering sources like Williams Sonoma Home for a while. Before going to Deborah’s website, I couldn’t have imagined the selection of embroidery genius I was about to encounter.
Before we talk about the selection, let’s establish a pattern of usage.

We’re focusing on the embroidered linens used on each of these beds, sometimes its just the shams, or a sheet set or a duvet or the whole bed.

I guess pretty soon I’m going to have to start thinking about how to get the rental version of this bedroom that Sarah posted a while back. (sans wallpaper.)
This gets me goin.

This lady has been added to my personal “hell yeah” list of designers. Her name is Betsy Burnham and I found her at Decor Demon, also new to me. It leaves me wanting more.
I felt it was important for us to make mention of these images and they are certainly getting around the blogosphere and understandably so.

Was also funny to observe how many design bloggers commented on this story at Decor Demon. It was a feeding frenzy to which I obviously joined.

Sometimes I feel a bit of design shame about having a TV sitting on the dresser in my bedroom. I think it subtracts from the room and limits the possibilities of what else could be placed on the dresser that would potentially be much better looking and would add to the room’s aesthetic.
But my husband and I enjoy watching the TV in bed. In fact, we discussed getting a slightly larger TV and having it mounted on the wall above the dresser, IF the electrician can drop the wire down from the attic.
Earlier this week I discovered Paula Caravelli’s NY apartment and a smile came across my face when I saw this image.

And then months ago I saved this from Style at Home’s site,

and this,

Suddenly a TV in the bedroom doesn’t seem so bad. Do you have one in your bedroom?
One of our readers recently commented and said hey what would you do for bedding in a little boys room and that got me thinking.
While I was perusing Urban Outfitters for bedding for DC’s room, I came across two spreads that I think you could design a whole room around for a toddler boy.
Enter the panel striped blanket. Both fun, masculine and sporty, I can see this blanket mixed with old furniture and new. This one can grow with the kid, fold at the end of the bed for an accent or sit on it in the park.

Or perhaps you like the dot leaf tapestry better. I like the graphic and earthy pattern and I love the blues and greens together. This is a fun one that won’t set you back too much.

When I cook, I use exact measurements and it annoys my husband Dan because he free forms a bit more when he cooks.
The recipe for this room…
Add some texture to your existing white mixture, stir. After thoroughly mixed, add a dash of rainbow.

Toast’s Spring/Summer catalog revealed itself in my inbox this week. I took note of these cross stitched sheets

I’ve hatched a plan, its a plan for my bedroom.
Great right…wrong.
Wrong because the plan for my bedroom requires that I get all new furniture and my husband Dan would freak out if he knew I was even entertaining the thought. I have so many other incomplete rooms in my home that need much more attention than the bedroom. It’s totally ridiculous really. But it’s all Ethan Allen’s fault. Ethan made this bed, the Quincy.

You might’ve seen it in the Ruralist category in House Beautiful in the Dec/Jan issue but I loved the Quincy before HB declared it Ruralist cool. Apartment Therapy talked about the irrational fantasies the Quincy invoked, so its not just me. Its comforting to know I’m not alone.

And yes, I know that there is probably an antique/vintage bed I could pick up for much less and paint black, I’ve considered that possibility too. Trust me, every old bed I see with traditional yet graphic curves, I imagine it black.
For now I’ll have to stick with what I’ve got which is this,

I was turned on to Bo Bedre a Danish shelter mag by a reader, thanks Anne-Sophie!
While trolling around the site I found this bedside table which is sticking with me. I think it’s because of the way it hugs the bed and although the styling is modern, the homeowner made it warm with the accessories that are placed there. It’s just a little refreshing change to the squat, wooden night stands I’m used to seeing.
