Why don’t I live in a converted barn like Corey and Krista? It’s even in Orange County, CA. I don’t really picture myself being in Orange County when I picture myself living in a converted barn, I’m a little partial to the countryside of North Carolina. But still - this place is pretty radical.

Immediately I want to change the floors. But that wall o’ wood panels is beautiful and the corrugated plastic along the wall between the windows is interesting. Big nod to the yellow dining chairs too!!!

I stumbled upon Trisha Brink’s home at sfgirlbybay last week. It was her bathroom with the vintage seaside oil paintings casually propped up by the claw foot tub that drew me in.
After taking a spin through Trisha’s flickr album, I decided you’d probably better have a look.

The bath that got my attention
It appears Trisha stays pretty busy with her store Grandiflora, her blog and creating things for her etsy shop. With all of this going on, Trisha says that she always remains a Mom and a wife first.

nice little vignette in Trisha’s home

Trisha says a low cost kitchen remodel was completed a couple of years ago and they are still loving it.

Lee Kleinhelter is one of my favorite designers and is also the owner of a home furnishings store called Pieces in Atlanta. Pieces is incredible and Kleinhelter’s designs are incredible. Maybe these images will jog your memory,

The condo is an interesting switch from the homes that were featured in Cottage Living, a change that Kleinhelter’s discusses in the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine article. I’m always thrilled to see Kleinhelter’s work and catch a glimpse of Pieces online when I can.
Here’s the family’s new spot in the Sovereign high rise,

Lee is pictured above looking pretty freakin’ glamorous at 34 weeks pregnant

The mirror in Kleinhelter’s dining area reminded me of the lattice mirror panels Jenny at Little Green Notebook posted about last week.

The Hermes blanket shows up on the chair and on the bed. This baby has a way of popping up everywhere, its quickly becoming an iconic accessory but certainly a luxury at $2400.00.

Tuff n’ Stuff - by YES GIANTESS
While that little dittie is getting going, I just want to introduce the topic here. We are gonna take a visual journey through the gender specific executions of the Tufted furniture onslaught. Then let’s discuss our favs.

I’m digging the greys in a colorful femine atmosphere. Though I wouldn’t be opposed to visiting if your house houses a deeper rich leather tufted sofa surrounded with some industrial appeal.

How about if you…
bounce the light all over the room and make the space seem bigger with a wall full of mirrors.

This:

lives in this:

Where I would expect to see goorish, we see moorish. And not so much Bat Wings (okay, maybe that’s more Ozzy), but we got wingbacks…. Some tufted black leather happening, which I think is relevant plus a little rock’n'roll. How bout that rug though? I’m not a fan. You?

A nook can be a place for napping or reading, gossiping, inappropriate disclosure of emotions, contemplation of the final frontier etc.
I have a nook in my house, its in the guest bedroom of all places. It is in desperate need of attention. Right now my nook is naked. My nook has no custom upholstered cushion or pillows or a cozy throw draped over it. My nook doesn’t even have a temporary chaise cushion from Pier 1. Shame, shame.
I ran across a boat load of nooks on Desire to Inspire and a couple of other places a couple of months back. Here are a few,

Fantastic use of the space beneath a stairwell that would normally go unused. I can’t say that I agree with the number of pillows and the colors but this is a great idea.

You’ve seen it, here and there and everywhere - I’m sure! Yet, this lovable and quite easy trend was just triply re-enforced with DoorSixteen’s post about its staying power. She’s amassed quite a great collection of stunning examples of the black wall in action. Did you see them!?
I was reminded that this image was the one that had me at Hello back when it first appeared.

I gave it a shot in my last home. The lighting pretty much sucks in my photos here… but let’s take a look for sake of nostalgia. I’ll never get to take a better picture than this cause that bathroom is dead to me. (I do greatly miss my 1500 sq. foot furnished home).

I used a black paint that leaned a little towards grey/brown. I wanted to make sure it was warm and didn’t come across feeling blue or purple and soul sucking.

Please note my DIY shower curtain too. Everyone I know owns this duvet from Ikea!! It is a great pattern and I have yet to tire of it. However, I did grow weary of seeing it on my bed everyday!! So, I re-purposed it and now it is my super tall shower curtain! The added height over the tub made it feel just a bit more luxurious. Not bad considering the beige that I started with.
I’m looking forward to making a similar transition with the bathroom in my new joint. I’ve been in the new place for less than two weeks, and I’ve only slept there a grand total of 4 nights…. If I was smarter I may have taken some of this holiday time to stick around in LA and put my life together there…. But there is NO WAY I could volunteer to do that when instead I could attend an Avett Brothers concert for New Year’s with Sarah and Dan!

Yes! More high gloss surface treatment, from two years ago via Desire To Inspire. I would love to try to pull that off.

Desire to Inspire has a new layout, and I am interested to see that they moved forward with Squarespace!

Not only do I love her music, but her home is pretty dang cozy. Check out Sara Lov’s Los Feliz Charmer! Don’t miss her Garden.

My friend Topher and I saw Sara Lov open for Nouvelle Vague back in July. He fell in love with her so when I received the email at work about free tickets, I gladly laid claim and let him know that he was coming along. And then, I embarassingly pounced on her as we crossed paths at the threshold of the Ladies Room. It wasn’t the most opportune time to attack, but I wanted to let her know that we were fans. A longer conversation surely would’ve led to a compliment on the House Tour on Apartment Therapy.
