Yes I am going to talk about televisions wrecking the interior landscape again, I already wrote a post about TVs in the bedroom. Just to be clear I am pro-TV and I’m in the camp that says, live with it if you like/want it.
Some of us don’t have the luxury of a living room and a separate den so the TV is right there in the mix, sometimes fighting with the fireplace to be the focal point. This is the case in my house and I’m sure some of you share this challenge.
This is the TV over the fireplace at my house shortly after we moved in.

Maybe like I did, you too will find comfort in this image of this lovely living room with a big ol’ TV front and center.

**Also an item of note, the ceiling fan which you don’t see a lot in fantasy design world but in the real world in some locales it is a neccessity.
Another beautiful home featured in House Beautiful with a TV mounted over the mantel. Although I did notice, the sofa is positioned with its back to the TV and the fireplace?

This should set you up nicely for Monday, good solid eye candy.
Ellen Hamilton, my eyes want to devour the rooms you have designed.

gotta be custom, striped dining chairs

I love when a sofa just takes over and when pattern commands in a small space

modern fixture juxtaposed against the traditional railing

this reminds me of Sara Ruffin Costello’s living room that everyone died over, only reinvented, Costello redux?

Welcome to our home, the rest is gonna be awesome, make a statement

where is that rug from? killer dressing room, would it put your outfit to shame?

focus on the mirrored doors and the symmetry

I loved browsing through the portfolio of Feldman Architecture. The firm is based in San Francisco and has engaged in a wide variety of projects. Feldman’s portfolio is rife with great inspiration both interior and exterior. Although they lean towards simple and modern, you will find some surprise elements like wider moldings in a modern space.

Some rooms I just can’t get out of my head right now…

the bookshelves are a little scant for my taste but I love the kilim, chesterfield sofas and the brass coffee table

I call this traditional with a twist, eclectic maybe, source unknown

Erika was kind enough to scan this in. This kitchen is a Gambrel design and it was captured by Tim Street Porter. The book that this photo is in has been on my Amazon wish list for a while.

I think its the bright ceramics here, the cheerful colors and that massive sideboard

Sarah Richardson design, I’ve come to realize that I really enjoy the sun streaming through the windows when I’m taking a shower. Skylights and plentiful windows in the bathroom is the way to go.

Have you ever heard of Pinehurst, NC?
Unless you are a fan of the game of golf, chances are you haven’t heard of this storybook resort town. Pinehurst is my neighbor just a few miles to the northwest.
Although she was right in my backyard, it took a post written by Matters of Style and a feature in Southern Living for me to discover Megan Young.
Megan’s home was recently featured in Southern Living. A home that I may very well have driven by many times. The home appears to be a fresh take on a classic look hence the title of SL’s article “Tradition with a Colorful Twist”.
I’ll let the images do the talking.

Some of Megan’s own artwork is included in this vignette

Young’s house was also featured in a local publication called Pinestraw magazine. The exterior of the house is shown in that feature and I think Megan was successful in restoring the original charm of her home, transforming it from a golf cottage in to a proper home for a family–with lots of style.

Megan’s style and experience is something I thought was missing here. I’m very excited that people like Megan are working and designing here in my area.

I’m wondering if I didn’t stumble upon my friend Kristin’s dream living room? A place where music memorabilia is proudly displayed.

If not, then I undoubtedly observed a place where Baroque, flokati, Astrid, velvet, teal and Michael can all live in harmony together. Good to know.

I learned about designer Isabel Lopez Quesada’s website via Mrs. Blandings. When Mrs. B posted it, she offered a disclaimer that said something like–here is the link but be warned, you may spend possibly hours delighting in the images of Quesada’s Proyectos. Ayyyy, she was right.
The artwork is stunning and the mix that the designer has crafted in her designs is impressive to say the least. Theres always just a dash of something that I can’t quite put my finger on, like a punctuation mark that finishes the space off.
A sampling of images from Quesada’s site, these are screen shots so please excuse the directional phrases.

Taking a tour through designer Carla Lane’s portfolio sent my brain a spinning. If it doesn’t have the same affect on you, take a second look.
Guaranteed to please.

This isn’t the first time I’ve admired the designs of Angie Hranowsky, I previously posted about Angie’s design efforts here.
Check out Angie’s home in the Charleston homemag. A 1974 mod dwelling in the Riverland Terrace neighborhood in Charleston.
Makes me fall in love with modern all over again, not that I fell out for very long.
