These people are beautiful and so is their store called Downtown. I want to tell you more about the hand selected vintage merchandise and I will soon. My friend Derek took me on Saturday and we met Mr. Robert Wilson and chatted for a bit with him about Downtown. Mr. Wilson is a warmly composed man and it was a thrill to stand around and rap about Interior Design, the travesty of mass shelter magazine collapse, as well as 20th century masterpieces and the next door gallery that sold Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup cans to a daring buyer for $100 each. We ventured over to that gallery and saw an informal presentation of Warhol’s contemporaries. (notably Ruscha, Lichtenstein and I think Rauschenburg - but I saw no labels).
Please visit the Downtown website, downtown20.net and prepare yourself for more than one post as a result of my visit there on Saturday. Mr. Wilson stated that most of their business is done locally, that over 75% is directly to the trade and that they also do rentals to LA’s movie and television industry. Please check out their inventory on 1stdibs. If you see anything you must have, well……. perhaps you can have it! I can’t.
Remember when I mentioned that I was flying down Lincoln Blvd and passed a store with my beloved fireplaces out front!? This is it. Live Style Marketplace & Gallery.
Kate and I had a big moving day on Sunday and on the way back from picking up a dining table in Venice, we decided to stop in and see what it would kind of money it would take to get one of those fireplaces set up in the corner of our new huge balcony. I choose this orange guy! We met with the fantastically friendly shop owner (Francesca), and she was ready to let me take him home for $1000. (too bad I’m poor).
Not all was lost though. This was a really fun visit. There’s much to see at Live Style: Inspiring furniture and accessories mostly from Indonesia and all of it at a REALLY fair price. When I inquired with Francesca about this show stopping couch, she told me that it was her own personal design, including the textile - which was a yummy velour. It wouldn’t normally occur to me to want a floral couch, but this one was special.
If you’re in the area, I’d recommend popping in to see what’s going on here. I’ll definitely be going back.
Hi. I’m back with more pimp for The Lead Chandelier. This time, I’m excited about some quick and super cute promo videos that Bregan has created to introduce her crafts to TLC site visitors. (I’m also in love with this video because of the soundtrack - and Frank from The Audio Muffin deserves the shout cause he made it!)
Click here to cast your vote for favorite Vintage seller! Jamie at i suwannee played blogger hostess and gathered some of our favorite bloggers together for a round table on what to buy at Overstock. Betsy and I were invited to put our two cents in. Head on over to i suwannee to see the picks, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what you can find at the “O”.
By the way, have those commercials ever bothered anyone else?
Jamie put together the montage above, links to products can be found at i suwannee
Jenny from Little Green Notebook made some great rug picks, it didn’t take very long before I was pretty cracked out in the rug section on Overstock. And one of my favorite blogger/new mama/designers Erika from Urban Grace made some picks too.
Alia from Sweetshorn Vintage has written this installment of Etsy Seller of the Week.
I have a major design crush on my online friend Helen Dardik. Her bright and colorful works are cheerful without being too cutesy. Her colorful prints are featured in her adorable (not to mention affordable) Etsy shop. Her drool-worthy home tour on Design Sponge revealed a sunny decor I would love to recreate in my home.
I am in love with her design aesthetic and it has me planning my future nursery already! Check out her blog to see her illustrations and pattern design. Her website also features sweet handmade toys that adults and children alike would love.
Of course I need you to see Leah’s illustrations because I have a really intimate appreciation for her subject matter. Particularly this one!!!
She has this exciting announcement to share!
ORIGINAL WORK: I am pleased to announce that I have begun showing with the gallery, Sebastian Foster. They have a large selection of my original work (and prints) for sale online along with the work of an incredible group of artists. http://sebastianfoster.com I also have a few original pieces that I haven’t had time to put in my etsy shop yet, but can give more info to anyone interested.
You may remember the Vintage Shasta Camper obsession’s start. I love the comments on that post - especially the one where the guy says he is hoping to find a camper/trailer bride soon. I kinda tried to blog about it too, but I need to brainstorm what to do with that site now.
Sweetshorn Vintage has some unique gifts right now AND whats even better…TEOT readers get 20% off now through Christmas. Shoppers enter “TEOT” at checkout.
This may look like an AD……… but that’s because it is. But, there is no compensation coming our way for it. If you aren’t familiar with Ten Thousand Villages, its a non-profit FAIR TRADE organization. Just a heads up, the Roost sale just started at One Kings Lane. If you need an invite email us you’re email address and we’ll get you one over quick like a bunny.
Don’t have time to explain about Roost if you aren’t already familiar but… you’d probably like it. And they don’t retail direct to the public.
