The Weekend

This weekend I’m thinking about going to get a canvas and painting my striped masterpiece. And I’m hoping to see Alice but if I can’t Annie Hall is always a great substitute.

This weekend I’m thinking about going to get a canvas and painting my striped masterpiece. And I’m hoping to see Alice but if I can’t Annie Hall is always a great substitute.
I went over to visit the Indiana project yesterday and found the new basement stairs were built, the wall that once separated the dining room from the kitchen was gone, the old basement stairs were being removed and the house has been ushered in to the 21st century. So I can head in to the weekend focusing more on exterior changes now.
I’ve read most of Lonny and look forward to reading the rest this weekend. So far I think Issue 3 is my favorite. It seems like its the accessory issue, every page features this awesome little tabletop vignette, thats the overall theme I’m getting right now. Looking at Lonny online gives me the insatiable want to touch those pages and I can’t get over that. My friend Kristin and I jumped up and down when we saw Lizzie Bailey’s campaign style chest in her entry, why? because Kristin bought one just like it for $20 at Goodwill and she had already planned to put it in her entry way, holla!
We’ll see you next week. Have a fantastic weekend!
I once picked up Joyce Carol Oates’ novel Blonde almost ten years ago in a Barnes & Noble and began reading one of the chapters. I didn’t purchase it that day but I did get it for Christmas from my husband this year. It’s just as captivating as I thought it would be, a fantastic read so far.
Sometimes when Oates describes the streets and neighborhoods of LA during Norma Jean’s childhood, my mind drifts to memories of our trips to visit Betsy in LA. Can’t wait to go and visit again.
What will you be daydreaming of or reading this weekend?

Well this weekend North Carolina and Virginia will brace itself for a winter storm that should ruin any plans to go to the 10 estate sales that seem to be happening here where I live. I think that means better deals doesn’t it?
I’m not sure what Betsy’s plans are for the weekend but she lives in LA soooo I’m thinking she’s probably got something cooked up.
Next week I’ve got a bathroom remodel for you and more rebuilding on the Indiana project and probably some other juicy stuff.
Check ya’ later.

I’ve totally Snuggied. It was a great 2009 Phenomenon and I had to join in the fun. My participation came in the form of a friend showing up to the house at an ungodly hour with a box of Snuggies for everyone present.
However, I am inspired to entice you with the concept of Snuggie-ing this weekend due to my beautiful friend Kristen Szanto. I’d pretty much beg Kristen to write more often if I didn’t know how busy she is managing a Custom Web Development Department for my former employer The Design People.
But check out this beautiful picture of her and her husband, and read her funny lament on the phenomenon of Snuggies here!!

Leaving you with a different kind of interior. We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.
Maybe you should spread out your design books or your old issues of Domino, turn on some music and figure out what you want to do with the living room or the guest room (prep for holiday guests). Spend some time with yourself because the holidays and life in general is hectic.

There was a time when I could do this… now there’s only two hours of each day in which I might have this opportunity– but oh laundry fills that spot. If you can still do this, do it for me, do it for Erika of Urban Grace, do it for mothers of small children everywhere.
Que the weekend.
As reported on Brandflakes for Breakfast, the city of Winston Salem, NC has commissioned artist Peter Gibson “Roadsworth” to create some custom works around town.
The project is part of the Inside/Out Series: Artists in the Community II exhibition at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA).
If I remember correctly, SECCA is part of Betsy’s old stomping ground as a Museum Studies major.
I love beauty in the everyday.

Have a fantastic weekend! Looking forward to Furbish Studio’s Opening in Raleigh tomorrow. Are you going?

and still fabulous…how does one achieve such timeless quality in their home, garden and wardrobe?
