The time has come my fair friends. We have discussed these curtains more than once.

My arrival back to my Santa Monica apartment met with me with a box full of lined yellow silk curtains. I put out a help me post to see if the world could make my dreamy curtains a reality. Several of you responded including Jamie from isuwannee.com. She got the hook up! It took some time, cause as I declare over and over and over….. the pockets are shallow.
Roomate Kate and I agreed that these would make the statement and we scraped our extra monies. We didn’t save much more money compared what I had imagined it might cost to start with the fabric I found in the garment district, but there was ZERO headache, and the final product is significantly more like the above photo than what I had found. I will need to pleat myself, and there is still hardware to purchase and hang close to the ceiling…. but since there are yella curtains laying all over my living room with great anticipation, I thought I may as well go ahead and share them. (carelessly tossed over the vertical blinds - which need to come DOWN asap…..)
What do you think!? (get yours from Jamie’s Furbish Studio.)

Remember how I found fabric for curtains…. Well, I’m over that. I did the math and it would amount to about $550 to get these babies lined and sewn, not to mention the pain in the neck of finding a seamstress, getting the materials, etc. etc.
So……… I implore - any ideas for where to start shopping for a cheaper, quicker version of these yellow Belle curtains? I’ve never shopped for such a thing before.

I read an amazing post about window treatments on Cote de Texas yesterday, which I highly recommend reading. I was perusing a Better Homes & Gardens slideshow about color and pattern when I came across this image,

Now this was meant to be a study in the use of pastels but what I noticed was the window treatments that were used in this room. It appears that it is one large natural shade, mounted on the outside of the bank of three windows. If this were my room, I’m pretty sure my instinct would’ve been to hang three separate bamboo shades but after reading CdT’s post I realize I may have been chopping up that nice horizontal line of windows. What’s your preference here?
Update-CdT also wrote a great post about Restoration Hardware turning Belgian. Also a great read.
Thank you to Isuwannee who linked us up on a farewell post with several other of her Blog Favorites. They were all great reads for me.
I was doing my usual quick break peruse and just loved this DIY Pinch Pleated Curtain post over at LITTLE GREEN NOTEBOOK. Check her out! Isn’t that room a really great mix of colors and textures.. Are you falling in love with everything black and white like I am…? (I’ve noticed several of my last posts have included a stripe here and there.)

This room is totally giving me some tangible ideas for a now completely empty guest room that I need to put back together. (My roomates moved out this week.) A humoungo thanks to Jenny at Little Green Notebook for the ideas… Including a totally easy and inexpensive matching Bookshelf job. Your room looks great.
Dear Sarah,
I know its not what we discussed, but I accidentally loved them too much to leave them. So I bought these curtains for my bedroom from Pier1. If they don’t work into the ModGyp scheme that we devised then I decided that they could easily translate into teeny tiny curtains in the Vintage Shasta Camper.

Keep your eyes peeled for complimentary patterns.
