This should set you up nicely for Monday, good solid eye candy.
Ellen Hamilton, my eyes want to devour the rooms you have designed.

gotta be custom, striped dining chairs

I love when a sofa just takes over and when pattern commands in a small space

modern fixture juxtaposed against the traditional railing

this reminds me of Sara Ruffin Costello’s living room that everyone died over, only reinvented, Costello redux?

Welcome to our home, the rest is gonna be awesome, make a statement

where is that rug from? killer dressing room, would it put your outfit to shame?

focus on the mirrored doors and the symmetry

dining is an event every night

gallery walls…yum

Have you ever heard of Pinehurst, NC?
Unless you are a fan of the game of golf, chances are you haven’t heard of this storybook resort town. Pinehurst is my neighbor just a few miles to the northwest.
Although she was right in my backyard, it took a post written by Matters of Style and a feature in Southern Living for me to discover Megan Young.
Megan’s home was recently featured in Southern Living. A home that I may very well have driven by many times. The home appears to be a fresh take on a classic look hence the title of SL’s article “Tradition with a Colorful Twist”.
I’ll let the images do the talking.

Some of Megan’s own artwork is included in this vignette

Young’s house was also featured in a local publication called Pinestraw magazine. The exterior of the house is shown in that feature and I think Megan was successful in restoring the original charm of her home, transforming it from a golf cottage in to a proper home for a family–with lots of style.

Megan’s style and experience is something I thought was missing here. I’m very excited that people like Megan are working and designing here in my area.

I learned about designer Isabel Lopez Quesada’s website via Mrs. Blandings. When Mrs. B posted it, she offered a disclaimer that said something like–here is the link but be warned, you may spend possibly hours delighting in the images of Quesada’s Proyectos. Ayyyy, she was right.
The artwork is stunning and the mix that the designer has crafted in her designs is impressive to say the least. Theres always just a dash of something that I can’t quite put my finger on, like a punctuation mark that finishes the space off.
A sampling of images from Quesada’s site, these are screen shots so please excuse the directional phrases.

The House of Honey holds eclectic interiors with bold strokes designed by Novia Scotia native Tamara Kaye-Honey.
Here are some of my favorites from Honey’s portfolio.

Bunny Williams’ contribution to the Kips Bay Decorator Show House did a lot for me in the way of inspiration.
Just when I started to have second thoughts about the turquoise and green color scheme in my living room these images appeared a couple of months ago. I just needed a little jump start.
Bunny Williams, Kips Bay House

This room has gotten tons of acclaim from the design industry but interestingly enough I read a post on a blog called Colour me Happy which didn’t totally agree with the color choices in Williams’ design. Colour me happy thought that the clean turquoise combined with the other “muddy” colors was a bad choice. Your thoughts on Bunny’s room.
Stephen Gambrel

I realized after seeing these rooms that the green & blue combo with neutrals mixed in was still very much alive. I also realized that honey gold tones and wood tones were a pretty decent accent to throw on top. Like maybe this pillow for instance…

I stumbled up designer Phoebe Howard via Margot Austin a couple of days ago and wanted to share the inspiration. We could all learn something from Mrs. Howards vignettes and room arrangements. Take a spin through her extensive image gallery and get skooled.
Hey Mom, are you reading this? Take a peak at this bedroom.

and the convex mirror of course

I think this stairwell is in a mountain home in Cashiers, NC

like the juxtaposition of the delicate china and the antlers

The print arrangement echos the vertical lines of the canopy bed and is a constant reminder of how tall the ceilings are.

House Beautiful was right when they named Jessica Helgerson one of the top 25 young designers.
Every once in a while I’ll meander through a designer’s portfolio and say to myself “well what do we have here” ok no I don’t exactly say that but I’ll see something and think to myself now that’s the NEW new stuff, thats creative, thats taking a good risk.
Let’s begin…
Portland Four-Square, why is everything so freakin’ amazing in Portland?

That craftsman trim that everyone wants to paint crisp white (me included) got a dark treatment. In some pictures it looks like stain and in others it looks like paint.

From the dining room you walk in to BAM….fresh, clean, white kitchen paradise. You can’t tell me that this isn’t dreamy. It’s so clean, would you need to shower? It’s shiny, its chalky, its textured, its industrial and sunny all at once.

A mid-century modern in Portland

Jessica’s house…

Take a spin through Jessica’s portfolio, you won’t be dissapointed.

Suzy Hoodless, a UK interior designer, creates bright yet sophisticated interiors. Described as a “British taste maker” Suzy’s interiors have a subtle feminine element, an element that in my opinion can often go very wrong. Suzy’s interiors seem so very right. Take in the sights.
