I recently spied this bedroom photographed by Laura Moss in House Beautiful.

Once I sought out her portfolio I found some other jewels I thought you might want to take a gander at.

Happy weekend peeps-

a door in Soho taken during my fall trip to NYC
I need this really I do, seems exactly what I’ve been searching for.

Several reproductions of Massimo Vitali’s work were recently on sale at One Kings Lane. The one above being one of the works that was for sale.
Massimo Vitali was born in Italy in 1944, he began the Beach Series in 1995. Vitali’s work is collected in various museums and galleries around the world. There are also some private collectors you may have heard of; Elton John, Cameron Diaz, Courtney Cox and Sasha Cohen to name a few.
Shortly after seeing some of the beach panorama prints for sale on One Kings Lane, I saw this in Lonny…then I pounded my fist on the desk and mumbled– where’s that extra $800.00 when I need it? DC doesn’t need to go to daycare for a month and 1/2 right?

Yes of course I’m still wishing and there’s something about this print…

Palm Springs Swimmer by Luna Park Productions
Before I left NC, I was hoping to do some urban exploring with John, like this chic from theindieimage. But her pics will have to suffice. I’m feeling inspired by the layers of paint. Its a fun practice to think about how to incorporate an old abandoned feeling into your decor.
Check out her website full of pictures. You’ll see that the old abandoned hospital goes far beyond any rational home decor. Its an amazing spot for a photo shoot though, and I would love to see some of Indie Image’s portraiture in it.

Before I gave birth to my daughter, I frequented Babycenter to read about pregnancy stuff and to get information that I couldn’t get from my complimentary copy of What To Expect When You’re Expecting. During my reading at Babycenter, I ran across an article about taking photos of your children. I took mental note of the bulleted tips because I enjoy photography and I wanted to take decent pics of my soon to be DC.

Trolling for a Christmas tree, 2008

A few weeks ago I read the handy photography tips at Fly Through Our Window. Darby, the author of the blog takes a gazillion pictures of her children and seems to have also taken an interest in photography. The loads of pictures that Darby takes amp the voyeur experience considerably and I’m glad she does it and I enjoy reading her blog. Darby asked a pro to answer photography questions and to give tips, click this link to see the pro’s advice. Some of Darby’s photos are below, first up her “Rover” John Martin (I really can’t get enough of his sweet face)

Party at the School House

This evening I decided to turn to The Satorialist for eye candy and wardrobe inspiration. As I was scrolling through the posts from September I ran across this book and instantly I am having a “I need that” moment. This book has already been added to my wish list at Amazon. I can’t wait to get back to snapping away.

Chromogenic Print, Queen of Spades, Joyce Lee
available at The Beholder
John Gruen’s photography portfolio is chock full of beautiful interiors to inspire all. In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, I’ll begin with this…

I missed the Country Home issue with Thomas O’Brien. I am on the hunt for that edition now. If asked who my favorite designer is, I would be hard-pressed not to say Thomas O’Brien. Looks like the same kitchen that was also featured in Domino.

Morrocan rug as seen… everywhere

I am scouring fabric sources right now so that I can make my own long rectangular pillow to center on the new sofa like the one below

John Gruen also shot for Brooke Reynolds’, Weekend Sewing. See the post about the Vermont photo shoot Brooke wrote about on her beautiful blog (one of my favorites) Inchmark. I have to tell you, Brooke’s post about leaving Brooklyn to move the family to California makes my eyes water a little every time I read it.
Photographer Paul Costello has shot some of my favorite interiors featured in Domino. For me his portfolio of interiors is a gold mine. Many of these images were and still are very inspiring to me. I’m sure Paul’s work has been blogged about many times over but I’m glad to reference it here on The Estate of Things…just in case you haven’t seen it or maybe forgot about some of these interiors, here’s a refresher. Reminds me again of how much I will miss cozying up to a new Domino each month.
I bought two armchairs at Design Archives in Greensboro, NC for $40, almost identical to the ones featured in Sara Costello’s living room. I painted them black and had new cushions made to look exactly like the ones in image. Aqua and moss have always been a favorite color combo of mine ever since I saw this image.

The Parsons desk as bedside table as suggested in the post Dear TEOT: Kristin’s Bedroom

Ione Skye’s home has been in my top ten since it graced the pages of Domino a couple of years ago. Costello did a great job of capturing sunny California living. The perfect mix of modern and bohemian style. Loved Ione ever since Say Anything.

Betsy’s coveted fireplace.

I really love this rug!

Sun-kissed and blissfully surburban…maybe

Chalkboard wall in the dining room. Love it and did it, very excited! I will share photos soon.

The library light from Circa Lighting illuminates the shelves. Same one purchased for Bungalow 404

Another favorite home that Paul captured, home of Ashley Edwards, also one of my top ten

The photography of Andreas Von Einsiedel has been used for many a cover of international and domestic shelter titles. I love perusing his portfolio and in the absence of all of my favorite design mags, who else could I turn to but the photographers and the interiors they shot.
