the estate of things chooses carolina panther steve smith

This is Steve Smith, he’s a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers. I am going to see him play Saturday night in honor of my brother in law’s birthday.

I’ve got some time to kill before the game and thanks to Sarah at Matters of Style I’ve got a shopping plan mapped out. Thank you Sarah for all of your recommendations!

I recommend playing around with the French photobooth site La Photo Cabine, found via Rambling Renovators

I think Lara Rossignol and I are kindred spirits…at least in TV Land.

See you back here, have a fantastic weekend!

Dan and I are headed to a party this weekend for one of our college friends, yet another turning 30. Hey its tax free weekend here in NC, I need some back to school stuff right? Who needs an excuse to go to Anthropologie?

sleepy Hannah

Hannah is such a good model.

We’re headed to the lake this weekend for some time with Dan’s family. Not sure if any design related activities will occur, I don’t think anyone in that crowd is in to it.

Some of the things I found this week,

Sometimes I come across designs that seem fresh, this is one. I’m pretty sure its those light fixtures. I’ve bookmarked this blog.

Suzy was right when she said Caitlin is the pillow master. Some can get the mix right and some just can’t. btw Suzy’s living room in Domino is the reason why I like to paint living rooms grey, my living room is Martha Stewart’s Newsprint.

Have you tried Craiglook?

If I had an extra $400 sitting around I’d buy this

There’s a designer tag sale happening in Cali this weekend, looks like you might need to go if you live in the LA area, nothing is over $200.

Hope you all have a super weekend! See you back here soon.

DC playing

This weekend will be a leisurely one for the most part. I have a little table to assemble from IKEA for DC and I plan to have two of the Thonet chairs I bought at the flea market stripped and I’ll put the grouping in DC’s room–soon.

We need a bed in DC’s room and I am having quite a time negotiating with a Craigslist seller on this spindle bed that I know is the perfect bed. I will have it enameled white if I can ever purchase it!

We’re cooking up a CSN stores giveaway for next week, check out their sites like All Modern over the weekend. I’m eyeballing this pillow from Koko & Co.

For all you LA residents, my co-author included, the Renegade Craft Fair will be in your town this weekend, check here for details. This may be a point of interest for you this weekend…

Weekend

Posted by Sarah on Friday Jul 16, 2010 Under Weekend

It’s birthday weekend!  Unfortunately, I will not be dazzling you with how fabulous I am by saying that I’ve got some grand destination birthday planned. No jetsetting here.

But…I will be headed to:

a. the flea market (the Raleigh, NC fair grounds flea is rated one of like the 25 best in Country Living)

b. a couple of other antique/consignment stores after flea

c. dinner with friends, all of which are female

d. cocktails

e. commando decorating at Kristine’s house

Sounds good right? Good enough for me.

Last night I celebrated with my family and Dan presented me with this,

Mad Hatter cake, 30th

Some after dinner conversation,

Dan: Will you be gone most of the day on Saturday you think?

me: absolutely

Dan: Well there’s a present coming for you but I don’t know if you have to sign for it.

me: Is it a Massimo Vitali beach scene?

Dan: yeah

me: Seriously?!?

Dan: no, but its something like that

conclusion: there’s a good possibility it’s artwork, yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In other news,

I have been hammering out the completion of the Indiana project all week. It will be pretty much done with the exception of the closet install on Sunday.  The yard will be hyrdroseeded tomorrow and yes we can talk about that at more length if you’d like to in the future.

Two coats

Iphone pic, two coats Ben Moore Showtime

It goes on the market next week. I may not sleep until it sells.

I don’t have anything to share this week because I’ve been standing out in the yard pacing at the Indiana project all week saying things like “are you coming today…ok and what time” “can you be finished by Saturday?” or the ever popular “that pea gravel is such a disappointment”

Are you going to a social club to hear some great music this weekend?

I may go to IKEA this weekend, can’t decide. Its a 2 hour trip for me. I need a small section of countertop for the laundry room at the Indiana project and I need to get it ASAP. IKEA has got some surface options for a great price. I searched the formica at Lowe’s and I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

Speaking of the Indiana project, I have some good news to share. The Indiana house was selected to be in a local publication called Pinestraw Magazine. The house will be photographed in two weeks and it will appear in the September issue. We’ll get you a link when it happens.  Expect to see final pictures of the house in two weeks, it has to be a show piece by 7/18/10.

I hope Betsy plays my song later today…

Share time topics are a little scant this week,

I found this bathroom remodel to be very respectable. Nice job Arren.

Lots of fun to take a spin through the photographic portfolio of Thayer Allyson Gowdy, via Oh Joy

I ordered this which should be arriving shortly, took it off the ol’ wist list. I hope it fits well!

Sarah & Dan's wedding

June 2005

It’s 90 million degrees here in NC. Even in the mountains last weekend it was 80+ degrees.

Apparently there is some wedding anniversary fun on my horizon, I got a hint yesterday, something about choosing a good day to night getup…sounds exciting. In case you were interested, Dan and I have been married for 5 years.  One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.  And if you’re keeping score, the boy just had a birthday last week and was celebrated as a father over the weekend and will now be honored as a husband. But its a joint celebratory venture so its not all about him.

And for share time,

Have you seen this papabubble candy, wonder if it tastes as good as it looks?

I was nearly salivating as I flipped through these images of a French flea market, almost enough to get me over my flying fears (its the over the ocean part)

I’m going to visit these people really soon. And I also heard they have a pretty cool neighbor.

I’m going to get Dylan’s big girl bed on Saturday. I posted it on TEOT’s Facebook, take a look at the bed there because the author took the listing down already. And yes TEOT is on Facebook and we should all be friends.

Early Weekend

Posted by Sarah on Thursday Jun 17, 2010 Under Weekend

I have to cut out early this week.

the estate of things chooses dan

Happy 30th love!

We are preparing to meet up with Betsy shortly and to celebrate my hubby’s birthday. In celebration we are going to the Mason Jennings show at the Orange Peel in Asheville, Jennings is one of his favorites. If you live in NC, the Orange Peel is a wonderful music venue and Asheville is a beautiful city.

For share time-

Very cool project for a fabric pup tent, I’ve been considering the idea of a teepee or tent in DC’s room

Olfactory genius here, I smelled them at a great local place I like to browse

Tears streamed down my face as I read the NieNie Dialogues

Whats this? a new private sale site, Hautelook

100% Fun

Posted by Sarah on Monday Jun 7, 2010 Under Weekend, travel

I loved Matthew Sweet in 1995, hence the title of this post.

We had loads of fun this weekend visiting Murrell’s Inlet and Georgetown, SC. There was something for everyone. My friend Amanda and I talked non-stop about decorating her new place. Amanda scored an amazing lamp at Goodwill for $9.  Hopefully she’ll give us some before and afters on the revamp.

Over the weekend,

We confirmed that swinging is a lot of fun.

Downtown Georgetown SC

We discovered that downtown Georgetown SC is very charming

Front Street Georgetown SC

we liked to dream of setting up shop on Front Street

Front St. Georgetown SC

And we found some reasonably priced antiques on Highway 17, will Amanda find her farmhouse dining table there? I hope so, otherwise her couch is in serious trouble
